Living It Out By Faith Pt. 19
Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.
Mark 4:24 NKJV
Jesus made it clear, what you hear is what you get. One of the reasons this is so important is because our hearts are attached to our ears. As we talked about in previous weeks, what you say over yourself is vital, but you aren’t the only one speaking. We hear other people, ideas, and thoughts every day. So what are you hearing?
The truth is, you can’t listen to garbage all day and operate in faith. Faith comes by hearing God’s word. Doubt comes by hearing everything contrary to it. Sometimes we feel as though God is distant or we don’t see how God’s word can be true in light of our situations. When we feel this way, it is evident that we need to shut off the enemy’s voice and begin hearing God’s word.
You must guard your heart by guarding your ears. This may mean that you need to limit your exposure to negative people. Negativity is subtle. It comes quietly and sneaks its way into your thoughts and emotions. One of the ways it does this is through the voice of others. This does not mean that you condemn them or shut them out, rather guard your heart when with them and limit the amount of input you receive from them. Remember, what you hear is what you get.
Be Blessed and Encouraged,
John
